Oxford, The Cotswolds and Stratford-upon-Avon – a sightseeing tour from London into the English countryside
Our first stop on this wonderful tour is Oxford, the “city of dreaming spires”. We then take a leisurely country drive through the rolling hills of the Cotswolds finishing up at Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace and hometown of William Shakespeare. With expert commentary by your own Blue Badge Guide and all entrances included in the price, this tour provides a welcome contrast to the bustle of London.
Oxford
Famous the world over for its renowned university, Oxford is a beautiful city. For over 800 years it has been a home to royalty and scholars, including such famous literary figures as Lewis Carroll, J.R.R. Tolkein and C.S. Lewis. On our walking tour of the city we'll visit Christ Church College, the largest college at the university and also a location for the Harry Potter films. We'll walk along the narrow streets, through the ancient courtyards and squares, soaking up the unique feel of this historic city.
The Cotswolds
From Oxford we head towards Stratford upon Avon through the tranquil beauty of The Cotswolds. Our scenic drive will take us through the gently-rolling hillsides and sleepy villages so very “English” in appearance.
Stratford-upon-Avon
Set in the beautiful countryside of Warwickshire, on the banks of the River Avon, Stratford is one of Britain's major tourist destinations. We'll take a walking tour and visit the birthplace of William Shakespeare. You'll then be free to explore this charming market town with its quaint shops, restaurants and cafes.
As with all Oakwood Tours we will pick you up from your own hotel and return you there at the end of the day. You will not have to share the tour with any other parties and you will have the dedicated attention of your Blue Badge Guide for the whole day.
